Description
Construction of 200 m of seawall in Lamu island along the sea shore by excavating in water logged loose sand and backfilling in gunny bags and coral boulders to base of foundation over which a concrete foundation 1.5m x 0.5m mass concrete was last. The sea wall is constructed in class A1 concrete blocks with a 300mm grouted coral boulder behind the wall.
A filter fabric is provided behind the wall and clean sea sand is backfilled behind the wall. The top of the wall is provided with a pedestrian pavement and drainage provisions.
Protection works to existing seawall by driving 3.5m long precast concrete sheet piles over an 80 m section.
