Description
The main scope of works are located in Ndau village and kizingitini village. These villages are in two separate islands of Lamu District. Other minor works are at Lamu town. The work involve construction of 1360m long Ndau Seawall, extension of Kizingitini seawall by 300m, repair works in Kizingitini seawall and breakwater and construction of a 330m m long new sea wall adjacent to the old seawall in Lamu town. The construction of the seawall is done by excavating in water logged loose sand and backfilling with coral boulders to base of foundation over a concrete foundation 1.5m x 0.5m mass concrete was cast. The sea wall is constructed in special class A1 concrete blocks with 300mm grouted coral boulder behind the wall. A filter fabric is provided behind the wall and clean sea sand is backfilled. the wall is provided with drainage provisions and the top of the wall is provided with pedestrian walkway, staircases, mooring bollards and boat slipways.
